Peter Hebert, Lux Capital

A couple of weeks ago, we had the privilege of hosting the renowned Peter Hebert, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Lux Capital for a SV Icons dinner. It was truly awe-inspiring to listen to the incredible tale of Lux's journey, and the unwavering determination and contrarian mindset that Peter and Josh Wolfe exhibited right from the outset, which continues to thrive to this day.

Lux Capital invests in the "outermost edges of what's possible." They had their roots firmly entrenched in cutting-edge sciences and frontier technologies well before that became the latest fad. Their diverse portfolio spans a broad spectrum, ranging from nuclear and nanomaterials to space exploration, autonomous systems, maritime technologies, and AI. Before the recent surge in AI hype, Lux had already been leading the way, investing in groundbreaking companies such as Runway, MosaicML, Hugging Face, and many others.

Peter is truly an icon, and what's even more remarkable is his down-to-earth nature and unwavering commitment to his roots.

I couldn't be more thrilled about their latest announcement of securing a new war chest of $1.15 billion, which is targeted towards breakthrough biology and technology in "inner space," as well as aerospace, defense, and manufacturing in "outer space," and last but not least, the enchanting world of AI models and computational infrastructure in "latent space." The dinner was off-script, confidential, and fun. We learned a ton from Peter and have the utmost respect.
